FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What to know before you protect it.

Straight answers about undercoating, existing corrosion, maintenance, mobile service, and what corrosion protection can realistically do.

What is undercoating or corrosion protection?

It is the application of a protective material to appropriate underbody metal surfaces, seams, and cavities to reduce direct exposure to moisture, road contamination, and corrosive conditions.

Should a newer vehicle be treated?

Newer vehicles can be strong candidates because protection begins before significant corrosion develops. Suitability still depends on vehicle design, factory coatings, condition, and access.

Can you treat a vehicle that already has rust?

Often, yes, when corrosion is serviceable surface rust and the underlying structure remains sound. Severe scaling, perforation, or structural corrosion may need repair before treatment.

Does undercoating stop rust permanently?

No. Corrosion protection can reduce exposure and help slow future corrosion, but it does not restore damaged metal or create a permanent maintenance-free barrier. Periodic inspection matters.

How often should the vehicle be inspected or retreated?

There is no single interval for every vehicle. Product type, mileage, road conditions, pressure washing, off-road use, climate, and exposure all affect service life. JDG Protection provides maintenance guidance based on the asset and treatment used.

Can I wash the underside after treatment?

Yes, but aggressive underbody pressure washing can shorten the life of some oil- or wax-based treatments. Follow the aftercare guidance provided for your specific service.

Will the product drip or have an odor?

Some oil- or wax-based products can show temporary seepage, residue, or odor after application, especially from cavities. Exact behavior depends on the product, temperature, and application area.

What areas do you avoid spraying?

Braking surfaces, tires, exhaust and high-heat components, belts, rotating components, sensors, and other sensitive areas are protected or excluded as appropriate. Exact exclusions vary by vehicle or equipment design.

Do you service fleets and equipment?

Yes. JDG Protection serves work vehicles, commercial fleets, serviceable heavy equipment, and trailers, subject to inspection, site conditions, access, and safe application requirements.

What does mobile service require?

We need adequate working space and a stable, reasonably level service area. Weather, lighting, surface conditions, clearance, and safe access can affect whether a job can be completed on site.

Are you accepting customers before January 2027?

Yes. JDG Protection is accepting a limited number of pre-launch vehicles through the Founding Customer Pilot Program while we refine our field process before full commercial launch.
